SABRINA
IGLESIAS
Yes, like Enrique and Julio. Nope, no relation.
Hi, I’m Sabrina Iglesias — a Philly-based award-winning editor, reporter, and project manager specializing in community engagement. I’m one of the editors on The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Communities + Engagement team, where I write and edit stories, hold Community Pop Ups, and have a video series called Community Tour. I’m also President of our LGBTQ+ ERG, Prism.
In my previous role at The Trace, I created the newsroom’s first local initiative — a gun violence resource guide for Philadelphians called Up the Block. In building the guide, I did lots of community engagement, partnered with other newsrooms such as Resolve Philly and WHYY, and did a great deal of research on organizations in Philly doing boots on the ground work in their communities.
My work has been featured in RJI, The Philadelphia Citizen, Gather, and Next City to name a few.
My 5-9 is typically spent listening to podcasts, dancing in the kitchen, and cuddling with my cat, Carmela.
